A Launceston woman has claimed that she is being haunted by two children who wander around her house singing in the middle of the night.

Merryn Tuner said she started noticing that there was a supernatural presence in her Lanstephen home near Launceston shortly after moving into the house in March.

The mother-of-three said: "Things started happening within a week after we moved in.

"We initially thought it was because it was new to us and we were just getting settled in – we didn't have carpets at that point as well so things had more of an echo."

Ms Turner said to begin with the family could only hear mumbling and people talking upstairs.

She added: "Then my partner started hearing singing and thought it was my daughter but he checked and she was fast asleep.

"He's not usually particularly aware of supernatural things so it seemed strange. Then we had lights flickering which we just blamed on faulty wiring.

"A couple nights ago, quite late at night, we were in bed when we heard something crash downstairs. There was a book on the table. It hadn't been hanging over the edge at all and someone pushed it off the table.

"We have cats but they were shut in the utility room. There is no other way to explain it. That did quite worry me so I've started looking into the history of the house."
